In the first half of the year, the Sealion family sold an impressive 134,070 vehicles, with June seeing a sales figure of 34,757 units. This strong sales growth is expected to become a new growth engine for BYD's Ocean lineup, which has already accumulated total sales exceeding 5.2 million units.
The Sealion 06 EV, based on BYD's e-Platform 3.0 Evo platform, offers single-motor and dual-motor options with varying peak powers. The starting price for the electric Sealion 06 EV is RMB 143,800 ($20,890), while the hybrid Sealion 06 DM-i starts at RMB 139,800 ($19,540). The BEV variants offer ranges of 520 km, 550 km, or 605 km.
The Sealion 06 DM-i is equipped with BYD's fifth-generation DM (dual mode) hybrid technology. On the other hand, the Sealion 06 BEV variants are equipped with battery packs of 65.28 kWh or 78.72 kWh.
The Sealion 06 measures 4,810 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,675 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm.
In the Australian market, the pricing range for the different variants of the BYD Sealion 06 SUV is as follows:
- Sealion 6 Essential: $42,990 before on-road costs
- Sealion 6 Dynamic Extended Range: $46,990 before on-road costs
- Sealion 6 Premium: $52,990 before on-road costs
These prices reflect the plug-in hybrid variants available, with the Essential being the base model and the Premium the range-topping one.
In contrast, the pricing for the Sealion 06 SUV (including both all-electric and PHEV versions) in the Chinese market ranges approximately from $19,300 to $22,700 USD (139,800 to 163,800 yuan), depending on the trim and battery options. The pricing varies significantly by market and variant, with the Australian PHEV trims priced substantially higher due to differences in specifications, features, and regional market factors.
