Yoshiyuki Sankai, a renowned professor at the University of Tsukuba and the CEO of CYBERDYNE Inc., is set to deliver a special lecture on August 27, 2025, titled "Pioneering the Future through the new frontier ‘Cybernics’". Sankai is a pioneer in Cybernics technologies, a field that aims to enhance human capabilities and improve quality of life through advanced robotics and intelligent systems.

Sankai's work primarily focuses on medical, welfare, and living applications. His innovative technologies, such as the Wearable Cyborg™ exoskeleton suits developed by CYBERDYNE, have significantly impacted welfare and medical care. These suits help physically impaired individuals, the elderly, and patients undergoing rehabilitation by improving mobility.

Sankai's work is a testament to the convergence of HCPS (Human-Centered Physical Systems), scientific innovation, and entrepreneurship, creating new industries worldwide. He leads initiatives within Japan’s strategic programs, fostering global collaboration and the creation of practical applications for Cybernics.

One of the key examples of Sankai's work is the world's first Wearable Cyborg, HAL (Hybrid Assistive Limbs). This technology fuses with the human wearer using bioelectrical signals from the brain nerve system, establishing an interactive BioFeedback loop between the brain/body and HAL, thereby strengthening and modulating synaptic connections.

Dr. Sankai is not only the CEO of CYBERDYNE, INC., but also a visiting professor at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He earned his Ph.D. in Engineering from the University of Tsukuba in Japan in 1987 and is currently a professor and Executive Research Director at the Center for Cybernics Research, University of Tsukuba.
