Advanced Brabus Model Not Suitable for Inexperienced Drivers
The Brabus Smart #5, a revolutionary electric crossover, has made its grand entrance, promising to redefine the electric vehicle landscape. With its impressive features and innovative design, this new model is set to challenge the Mercedes EQB and BMW iX3 in the large crossover segment.
Power and Performance
At its core, the Brabus Smart #5 boasts an immediate torque of over 700 Nm, making it a force to be reckoned with. The Brabus top version takes this a step further, delivering an astounding 475 kW of power and 710 Nm of torque, while the more expensive versions are charged to a higher voltage of 400 volts.
The power distribution in the Brabus Smart #5 varies in different driving modes: 51% (Eco), 65% (Comfort), and 86% (Sport). The Smart #5 Pro Plus version packs a punch with a 267 kW or 363 PS motor and a 94 kWh battery pack, offering a range of approximately 600 kilometers. The Smart #5 Pulse, an all-wheel drive variant, boasts a total of 432 kW or 587 PS.
Interior and Exterior
The interior space of the Smart #5 is remarkably spacious, thanks to a wheelbase of 2.90 meters. This makes it the largest Smart vehicle ever produced, accommodating five passengers comfortably. The vehicle measures 4.70 meters in length and features digital instrumentation consisting of one or two 13-inch screens and a 25-inch head-up display.
Convenience and Control
The Brabus Smart #5 is equipped with a lion avatar that helps control important functions such as telephone calls, messages, audio system, or climate control by voice. The vehicle also offers DC fast charging up to 400 kW, ensuring a quick and efficient charging experience.
Handling and Safety
The Brabus Smart #5 offers a dynamic driving experience, with the response of the steering, brakes, and stability control adjustable in each driving mode. Despite rolling on 21-inch wheels, the vehicle is tuned quite stiff, even harsher than the China version, providing a sporty feel. The brakes respond sharply, smoothly switching between regenerative and mechanical deceleration for optimal control.
Off-Road Capabilities
For those seeking adventure, the Brabus Smart #5 offers an off-road program with additional modes for Snow/Sand/Mud/Adaptive and Stones, ensuring it can handle various terrains.
Future Plans
Dirk Adelmann, CEO of Smart in Europe, has announced a decision about a possible future two-seater city car, the spiritual successor of the original Smart, will be made by the end of 2025. If approved, the new model, named Smart #2, is already in the final design and development phase, with the involvement of Mercedes-Benz Design and production by Geely, focusing on the European market.
With more than 2.2 million Fortwo and Forfour owners demanding the introduction of new generations of the model, the future of the Smart brand looks promising. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting electric crossover and the potential return of the iconic two-seater city car.
