Audi Unveils Gaming Chairs Inspired by Automotive Design

German automotive company, Audi, has ventured into the gaming world by launching a lineup of chairs designed based on automotive seat concepts. This new product aims to cater to both office work and competitive esports.

The range includes three models: the entry-level SL3800, the mid-tier SL5800 RS Edition, and the high-end PL4800 Audi Sport Edition. The SL3800 offers an artificial leather seat with a cooling system and a sturdy steel frame, with an optional neck pillow available separately. The SL5800 RS Edition flaunts an aluminum frame and HygennX material, ensuring quick drying and odor neutralization properties. The top-tier PL4800 Audi Sport Edition boasts a sports-inspired design and enhanced load capacity, accommodating users up to 198 cm tall and 163 kg in weight.

However, the financial health of Audi seems to be under strain. In March, the company announced plans to reduce its German workforce by 7,500 by 2029, adding to the near 48,000 dismissals within the Volkswagen Group. This is due to the Volkswagen Group's optimization program, aimed at cutting 35,000 jobs, Porsche's plan to eliminate 3,900 positions, and the software division Cariad's decision to dismiss 1,600 employees. Additionally, Audi temporarily halted vehicle deliveries to the United States in April due to tariffs imposed by the previous administration.

The revenue for Audi in Q1 2025 was 15.4 billion euros, showcasing a 12.4% increase compared to the same period last year. Despite this growth, the company reported a financial result of 265 million euros for Q1 2025, a decrease from 515 million euros in Q1 2024. Demonstrating the effort to streamline its operations, Audi is focusing on transformation and efficiency improvements.
