6 SUVs Earn Straight A's in Cars.com's 2023 Car Seat Fit Report Card
Cars.com has released the 2023 Car Seat Fit Report Card, aiding parents in selecting family-friendly vehicles. Six SUVs earned straight A's for car seat fitment, demonstrating the dominance of SUVs in this category.
To achieve an 'A' rating, a vehicle must provide ample space for children and car seats without compromising driver or front passenger legroom. The Latch system must also be conveniently accessible and easy to use. Out of 56 vehicles evaluated, six SUVs excelled in these areas: the 2023 Acura RDX, 2022-23 Audi E-Tron, 2023 Chevrolet Equinox, 2023 Kia EV6, 2023 Volkswagen ID.4, and 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan.
Cars.com performs Car Seat Checks by installing three types of car seats into each new vehicle and assessing the Latch system and vehicle accommodation. The report card identifies vehicles that best fit car seats for infants, toddlers, and young children. This is particularly important given that 60% of parents have incorrectly installed a car seat, and half took more than a week to notice their error.
Over half of current parents own an SUV, making it the most popular vehicle choice. Nearly half of parents bring their car seat to the dealership to test it before purchasing a vehicle, a 15% increase from 2022. The 2023 Car Seat Fit Report Card, with its six top-scoring SUVs, is a valuable resource for parents seeking a safe and comfortable ride for their children.
